I love my house music and would like to no some more DJS/ albums/tunes that I can download?

I love Deadmau5 and ministry of sound but does anybody know any good house DJS, albums and tunes that I can download? I need some new music.

I’ve never heard Deadmau5 before, but I think he’s an electro/techno/trance kind of DJ; I’m into a totally different sound.

But, you could visit his website and see if there are any podcasts available to download (which will be free). A tracklist is usually provided where you can get familiar with the namesother producers and acts, which you could then add/like most of these on facebook, where I’m sure there’ll be links to mixes, events etc.

Personally I’m into deep and jackin house which is played and produced by:
DJ Sneak, Derrick Carter, Masters at Work, Sound Republic, Inland Knights, Fred Everything………….. I could go on forever!!!

I hope this helps and you find the sound you’re looking for.

Is there any way I could get my hands on wrock sheet music?

Is it wrong for musicians in christian contemporary music, gospel, etc to make money off of Jesus?

August 22, 2011 - 7:37 am 8 Comments

Yes, I know christian musicians spread the word of Jesus through music and ministry, but isn’t it wrong to make such huge amounts of money off of God and Jesus’ name and teachings? I’m sure a lot of them donate money to worthy causes, but they still earn huge earnings from CDs, concerts, books, and radio/TV appearances. It just doesn’t seem right to self-profit so much from God and Jesus.

Christian musicians are just music business professionals who sell their music to a specific musical niche market. That market is willing to pay money for that brand of music. It’s nothing more complicated than that. If they can make a living doing it, more power to them. I know I would never buy their stuff, ’cause I’m not interested in that kind of music, but enough other people are that they can make a go of it. Fine with me.

What do you think of preachers who take in donations from their congregation to supposedly spread "God’s word," and tend to the spiritual well being of their flock, but who spread out and get heavily involved in politics and other secular endeavors?

What are some good music ministry resources?

August 15, 2011 - 4:21 pm 3 Comments

I’m in the process of being hired as the minister of music at a small Southern Baptist church. This is the first time I’ve ever held this position, and though I’ve been actively involved in a similar church’s music ministry all my life, I’ve never been at the helm. The choir and musicians (pianist and organist) seem pretty open to my ideas, in fact they’re really eager for me to make some changes in the music ministry (weird for a Baptist church, but I’m not complaining :-p). But I’m so brand new at this and I really don’t know where to start. I’m a lifelong musician so I’d love resources on technical stuff like conducting and rehearsing SATB scores, but I’d also like information on putting together worship service programs, planning, tactful integration of traditional hymns and praise choruses, and effective ways of including members who don’t read music. In addition to the choir, there’s an up-and-coming praise band we can integrate, but that will be the easy part for me as I have more experience with that.

Any advice or resources would help a lot!
I think it’s awfully presumptuous of you to judge me for getting paid to do this. I have been praying for a job for a long time; my husband and I are barely making it financially and I have been trusting God to provide. I also just recently offered myself to God for Him to use; in NONE of the ways I envisioned this happening I expected compensation. I am also willing to do this job without pay, but the church has paid their music ministers in the past and were offended when I suggested doing it for free. They know my family is struggling; this is actually reminiscent of the church of Acts where the struggling members were helped by the more well-to-do. I’m really, sincerely happy for you that you have not been in a position where you needed money this badly, but you are presuming to know the state of my heart which isn’t right. I am your sister in Christ, please uplift rather than tear down.

I don’t know much about leading choirs, I’m part of a worship team that does mostly contemporary stuff with no choir (we’re a small church) but I do know that http://worshiptogether.com/ and http://www.praisecharts.com/ have great resources for worship leaders. They have everything from sheet music to actual worship leading training kits and classes.

And there is absolutely nothing wrong with being paid for this! People don’t realize that leading a worship team is a full time job. The Bible states multiple times that "the laborer is worthy of his wages." Last time I checked, worship leaders have to do a heck of a lot of "laboring."

I wish you the best of luck with this!

Where was the Ministry of Magic in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix?

August 6, 2011 - 4:56 pm 8 Comments

In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, when Harry and his friends go into the department of mysteries, where is everyone? Why are there no ministry workers?

Sorry if thins is a stupid question.

Thanks :)

I think there may be two reasons;

1 – It was night, so folks were no longer at work. In Deathly Hallows, we see/read that when Ron, Hermione & Harry transform into Ministry employees using Poly Juice potion to get in, it is very busy with a lot of people arriving for work, likely meaning Ministry employees worked "regular" 9 – 5 hours, leaving the Ministry nearly empty. Obviously with the exception of Aurors, but I doubt an Aurors job would see them spending a lot of time at the office, and especially at night.

2 – Voldemort and his Death Eaters may have already begun using the Imperius curse to manipulate junior Ministry employees, so as to keep them away. Folks were still in denial that Voldemort had returned and he would likely have embraced the idea that his return was false, so violence would not have been used to clear the ministry, leaving the Imperius curse as an option.
