Do you know that you can find undergraduate with band 3 in MUET studying TESL in Education?
I think Ministry of Education has utilised teaching profession as a harbour to place those unemployed (the people filtered by the job market).
Wee Kah Siong blames Chinese don’t want to be teachers, but actually he doesn’t dare to show the figure that how many Chinese has applied the job and attend the interview. And most of them has better English proficiency than those succeeds to get the job.

From the 80000+ candidates in the MUET test last year, only 1424 students achieved Band 5 . And I can bet, probably 3/4 of them are not interested in teaching at all. So how is it possible to hire only those with band 5?

Though we want the best for our children. We also have to be realistic. And I’ve not really seen much difference in the ‘English proficiency’ of the Chinese and other races.

    I’ve to disagree.
