Matthew J. Slick is the creator and webmaster of the Christian website “Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry” (http://www.carm.org ), and is the host of a related radio program in Boise, Idaho entitled “Faith and Reason”. Slick is a Protestant presuppositional apologist and a leader in the counter-cult movement. He considers it his mission to “answer opposition to the Christian faith,” which in his view includes all non-Christian worldviews and non-Protestant denominations of Christianity, including Catholicism (though he believes many individual Catholics are saved) and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

What is The Atheist Experience?

The Atheist Experience is a weekly cable access television show in Austin, Texas, geared at an atheist and non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin (ACA), a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.

    Well, i seem to be …
    Well, i seem to be in the slightly labeled ‘big leagues’ once again.. cracks knuckles.. actual ppl worth arguing with on this comment section judging from the responses.. geez, reminds me of the early days of constant bickering and arguing on Carm.org.. good times.. So, who wants to begin? or should i say ‘discuss’ ?

  2. turtlen Says:

    @HybridD91 ” …
    @HybridD91 ” Besides, one’s beliefs mean nothing because real science is progressed through the natural world, not through the Bible. ” What if the bible also includes things from the natural world in descriptions etc?

    “We know Japan exist because of something called geography”

    We can also go there, which I did. Where can I visit any of the gods?

  4. lhvinny Says:

    @stefansv I’m not …
    @stefansv I’m not sure I agree with the “would not exist” part. Atheist is just a label, nothing more. “Would a rose by any other name smell as sweet?” Yes, yes it would. Thus, the origin of the label atheist is independent of the lack of belief it is defined by.

    @danielnaruto12
    Atheism would not exist with out christians, since they were the first athiest.

    Total logic win!!!…congrats my friend!!….(not really, face palm)

  7. HybridD91 Says:

    @puppetmasterfiles …
    @puppetmasterfiles Albert Einstein didn’t believe a personal god, ie your god. Ben Franklin was a deist, not a Christian. Edison was an agnostic and far from a theist. We know Japan exist because of something called geography and a phone number, better yet Playstation and 7/11. You don’t have to touch anything to know if exist, nice fail. Besides, one’s beliefs mean nothing because real science is progressed through the natural world, not through the Bible.

  8. smpolymen Says:

    @puppetmasterfiles …
    @puppetmasterfiles *sigh* I love Star Trek, but this whole “logic vs. emotion” BS is a bit much. Why do people think they are opposites? This attitude of mutual exclusivity is evidence enough of your immaturity. The rest of your flawed rant is just icing on the cake.

    i exchanged a few emails with matt slick. he claimed he won this debate. he also said that matt D refused to go on his radio show. asked me if i was braver, and would go on it. i said gladly. he blocked me promptly.

  10. brownbigb Says:

    @puppetmasterfiles …
    @puppetmasterfiles you are an idiot. and we are such a country. ben franklin was not a christian.

    @puppetmasterfiles
    You still have the ability to make a hypothesis about the existence of Japan, test your hypothesis, and continually come to the same conclusion. Don’t pretend that there is a similarity in proving a physical place and proving that there is an immaterial God.

  12. MrJmm999 Says:

    @puppetmasterfiles …
    @puppetmasterfiles Please how Franklin’s Christianity had ANYTHING to do with him discovering electricity. What in the bible helped him do this? Same for Edison. They discovered these things by rejecting biblical explanations that a God creates/manages nature and applied naturalistic science.

  13. ryonalionthunder Says:

    @puppetmasterfiles …
    @puppetmasterfiles
    The trick here is.
    Ben franklin did not discover it because of his christian beliefs. he discovered them because of his scientific efforts.
    Ditto for the rest of every example that has to do with this.

    Most people who are Christians aren’t stupid, or bad people. They’re indoctrinated into a cult from an early age. It’s hardly their fault and it’s not easy to “logically” break away from something that was burned into your brain since the beginning of your ability to think, at the threat of torture in hell.

    I don’t hold most Christians in contempt; I sympathize with them. It’s a difficult bind to be in.

  15. puppetmasterfiles Says:

    @JohanAtheist Ben …
    @JohanAtheist Ben Franklin figured out the power of electricity and he was a Christian. Thomas Edison was a Christian and he invented the phone. Like I said, stop using stuff we invented and we’ll stop using yours. Even Albert Einstein admitted that there is no greater field of research than the supernatural. I can’t touch Japan from Florida, so how do I know Japan exists? Think about it.

  16. puppetmasterfiles Says:

    If religious people …
    If religious people are so stupid then why do you use things created by us? Why do you live in our countries? Create your own country and move there. The perfect place to live. No spirituality, no emotions, perfect. Because emotions are very illogical right? Therefore; an advanced people should not have them. You should evolve beyond that false construct to achieve the ideal atheist. Leave feelings to us stupid believers of God.
